White River Valley Museum
A local museum that tells the story of Auburn and its surrounding region, White River Valley Museum is both educational and fun. The museum consists of permanent exhibits and four temporary shows each year. The collections focus on local Puget Sound history, Northwest Indian culture, Japanese-Americans and the Northern Pacific Railroad.
Located in Auburn’s Les Gove Park, the museum was founded by a group of community members who gathered over lunch in the 1950’s to share their love for regional history. They eventually created the non-profit White River Valley Historical Society and built the museum on city of Auburn property in Les Gove Park.
The mission of the museum is to preserve and share the cultural heritage of South King County, which was known by pioneers as the White River Valley. This is accomplished through operation of the museum and the 67-acre Mary Olson Farm. The museum also hosts curriculum based field trips for school children.
