Yelm WA – Baseball Teams

Yelm offers numerous baseball teams that compete every spring, many with names inspired by animals or local landmarks.

Mason Fritsch from Maple Valley, WA / Tahoma HS will look to make an early impactful statement with his left handed bat and excellent athleticism.

Nisqually Basin Youth Baseball

The National Boys Youth Baseball (NBYB) boasts 24 teams this year – its largest roster ever! Teams span from Chehalis to Kelso and Olympia with opportunities available to support your local youth baseball teams through volunteering or paying for occasional scrimmages games.

The league has also received visits from notable figures, such as retired Major League pitchers. Most recently, Gerald Smiley of Texas Rangers fame paid them a visit and signed some autographs during an autograph signing session.

Ireland stated that this season the NBYB offers several exciting programs designed to make participating even more rewarding for its participants, including a 13-Prep division that blends elements of Babe Ruth with those from Little League to provide a cost effective, less intimidating alternative for kids interested in baseball.

Yelm Tornadoes

Yelm’s Tornadoes win games through an innovative mix of speed and power. Their large offensive and defensive lines, led by 6 foot-7 and 320 pound left guard William Snodgrass, receive plenty of help from tailbacks and quarterback.

Isaiah Patterson, who moved from Skyview last year to join the Tornadoes, is a three-star linebacker recruit with offers from Oregon and WSU. Against Peninsula he made an impressionful showing, sacking Payton Knowles four times.

The Tornadoes enjoy an advantageous SSC schedule; they don’t meet powerhouses like Peninsula or Timberline until weeks seven and nine, both at home.

Yelm hasn’t encountered much competition this season, but when they do face something tough it should be challenging. The Tornadoes have outscored opponents 461-55 so far in 2019, giving them enough firepower to make a run for state glory; whether or not they succeed will depend on how consistently they play.

Yelm High School

Yelm High School in Yelm, WA, is part of Yelm Community Schools and boasts approximately 345 students enrolled. As an outstanding performer across academics, athletics and arts disciplines – Yelm stands out as an impressive institution.

Yelm Little League

Yelm Little League is a local youth baseball organization offering teams for kids 9 years old or younger. There are four divisions within this league; including an “real baseball” division where kids aged 9-11 play by 46/60 Cal Ripken rules.

Last month, someone driving a red pickup truck stole thousands of dollars of equipment from Longmire Community Park and stole it off-site, hindering New Brunswick Youth Baseball League (NBYB) President Greg Ireland from holding games or practices at Longmire Park. Following this theft, donations came pouring in for replacement items as community members rallied together in support of their league.

The National Boys Youth Baseball (NBYB) raised $2,500 through GoFundMe page, but its community support went further than this. Texas Rangers pitcher Gerald Smiley organized a fundraiser, along with assistance from Seattle Mariners pitcher AJ Reeder, to raise additional funds needed for replacing equipment. Multiple players also took to social media platforms such as Twitter or Instagram to show their solidarity; Irish even invited an internet celebrity police dog named Arlo to throw a first pitch at one game this weekend!
